UITS Journal of Business Studies caters to needs of all those researchers and academicians looking forward to contribute through their knowledge, skills and abilities in different aspects of Business. Therefore, we invited conceptual, theoretical, and empirical research works on contemporary issues in business from industry experts, academicians, researchers, and scholars. We are very happy to acknowledge the receiving of a substantial number of scholarly works covering the aforementioned areas from home and abroad. Thereafter, all research articles went through a rigorous editorial screening and anonymous peer review process and our distinguish reviewer panels put intensive efforts to ensure the quality of standard of the journal. A Trend Analysis on Domestic Violence Against Women in Bangladesh

Abstract: Domestic violence is a momentous social as well as national issue which has not only reflection on the individuals but also has a substantial social and economic impact on the overall development of the country. The objective of this study is to focus on the current status of domestic Violence against Women in Bangladesh and predicting about this scenario. Data was taken from secondary sources such as BBS, national non-governmental organization Odhikar purposively. Various statistical measures such as percent frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation are used in describing the variables and method of least square have been used for predicting different significant variables. .This secondary data have been analyzed by using statistical software SPSS 20. This study reveals that number of child victims by rape is increasing in alarming rate. Moreover, in last three year number of victims raped by law enforcement agencies was stable although it has increased in 2018. Average number of victims per year by stalkers is 750. Dowry related violence is decreasing after 2013.It is alarming for society that killing rate after raped has increased than that of last few years. Trend analysis reveals that number of victims will decrease significantly throughout the year 2025 for any types of violence. These findings would help the policy-maker to get existing and future scenario of domestic violence. Strict and time-to-time execution of law may be able to condense the violence against women in Bangladesh.

Performance of Mutual Funds Management of Bangladesh-Evidence from Close End Mutual Funds in Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited (DSE)

Abstract: The mutual fund market in Bangladesh is still small though the concept of the mutual fund was introduced in the year of 1980.Mutual fund sector is lucrative at all over the world where it has much impact on GDP and total market capitalization but Bangladesh is lagging behind in this sector and unable to make proper use of this sector. Open end mutual fund performance is quite good rather than close end mutual fund in Bangladesh. Weekly NAV data of 10 close end mutual fund has been taken in this paper. Not all the funds are doing bad, still few funds‟ performance are extraordinary. Management‟s inefficiency, lack of trust of investors and poor governance by regulator are the main reasons behind the poor performance of mutual fund sector in Bangladesh. Moreover, the recent unusual upsurge in the stock markets, the redemption of the matured funds, unstable margin rule, unskilled investors, asymmetric information, declaration of re-investment units as dividend have made the mutual fund industry much tougher than ever before. To bring back the confidence of the investors in the mutual fund sector this paper is bringing some recommendations to reduce the stressors up to a certain level.

Corporate Governance and Risk Taking Behavior of Banks and Financial Institutions in Bangladesh

Abstract: Banks and Financial Institutions play a crucial role in the economy of all countries. Growth of any economy depends on stability of its financial sector. This research paper shows the stability of financial sector through the corporate governance & risk taking behavior of financial sector of Bangladesh from the year 2000 to 2017. From the Altman z score model, credit risk model & liquidity risk model the soundness of the financial institution‟s health has been identified. Most of the institutions don‟t maintain the standard of finance gap, liquidity gap & proper loan deposit ratio. The impact of corporate governance on the advance to deposit ratio demonstrates how aggressive a company to take risk. Random-effects on GLS regression model has been used to fit the dataset. Only the size of the company has significant negative relationship on risk taking ratio which is advance to deposit ratio (ad ratio). The influence of age and board size has insignificant negative relationship on the ad ratio. The number of independent director, board meeting and audit committee meeting has a positive insignificant influence on the advance to deposit ratio of banks & financial institutions of Bangladesh. This paper is bringing some recommendations to improve the stability of the financial sector.

Enlightening Youth Entrepreneurship with E-Commerce to Empower Young Generation in Bangladesh

Abstract: This paper attempts to identify how the usage of e-commerce is helping youth entrepreneurs in Bangladesh to carry out and successfully develop business activities. The research focused on identifying how ecommerce has helped youth entrepreneurs in expanding their business and to create awareness among potential young generation about the challenges and opportunities to help bring social uplift for Bangladesh. The paper also represents that low amount of initial investment; good profit ratio, easy payment process and proper networking facility make entrepreneurship more attractive for youth entrepreneurs. The result shows that e-commerce as a medium is becoming popular tool among youth entrepreneurs and it allows them to successfully earn their livelihood and be self-employed.

Funding Sources for Small and Medium Business Enterprises in Bangladesh: A Descriptive Approach

Abstract: The main objective of the study is to find out the sources of small and medium business funding in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh small and medium business has remarkable contribution to our GDP. It creates many opportunities for Bangladesh. So that, it considered a new hope for Bangladesh. For developing small business capital is the main constraint. In our study we find out there are available sources of small business funding in Bangladesh but a lot of challenges when a borrower getting the loan.

Impact of Relationship Marketing in Creating Customer Loyalty: A Study on Selected Super Shops in Bangladesh

Abstract: Marketers are continuously seeking for weapon or strategy to create customer loyalty. Marketing experts have emphasized that relationship marketing is one of the best marketing efforts in order to create customer loyalty. The competitive structure of super shop industry in Bangladesh has forced the marketer of this industry to adopt relationship marketing. This study is focussed to measure the impact of relationship marketing in creating customer loyalty in super shop industry in Bangladesh. Both causal and exploratory research method have been used to conduct the study. Primary and secondary data have been collected to proceed with the study. The study revealed that one of the important factors of relationship marketing in super shop industry in Bangladesh is commitment of marketer of this industry to provide charming purchase experience to the customers. This study is aimed to investigate the impact of relationship marketing empirically on customer loyalty after taking evidence from super shop industry in Bangladesh.

Impact of Social Business: A Project Analysis of Grameen Veolia Water Ltd.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the way of conducting social business concept in Bangladesh with reference to Veolia water project which is a social business. Additionally, this study also examines the problems faced by the entrepreneurs when adopting this concept. Both primary and secondary data were used for this study and data were collected from Veolia water project and Yunus center. Data collected were analyzed using focus group interview, observations and other qualitative tools relevant to statistical data analysis. Finally, the study provides some suggestions as guidelines which will be beneficial for concerned people for adopting social business concept.

Recent Status and Challenges of Small and Medium Enterprises

Abstract: Development of SMEs has a positive effect on stimulating domestic demand through job creation, innovation, and competition. SMEs, a driving force for accelerating economic growth and diversification, still there are constraints on the modernization of SMEs that is the gap between demand and supply of funds for financing. Bangladesh Bank is taking extensive financial measures to promote SMEs but the access to credit remains a challenge to SMEs in particular for those in the non-metropolitan areas. The main factors influencing financing decisions were: lending technology, information gap, processing of loan applications, collateral requirements, profit earning of SME, legal form of ownership, profiles of a firm, lack of data on the payment history of the firm, financial statements, and experience of SME in management and business 2 . The aim of this study is to analyze the contemporary status of SME in Bangladesh, factors influencing financing decision and some recommendations to overcome the challenges.

The Antecedents of Female Customers’ Satisfaction with Online Shopping: An Empirical Study in Bangladesh

Abstract: With the increasing diffusion of ICTs, more specifically the Internet, the global business community is rapidly moving towards Business-to-Business (B2B) e-Commerce. With the ever increasing popularity of electronic commerce, the evaluation of women customer satisfaction is now an emerging factor. The various models of customer satisfaction that the researchers have appropriate for Cyber shopping stores. So we did a survey on “women customer satisfaction for online shopping in Bangladesh”. We did our survey on women of various occupations. We sort out six variables which play a vital role on women customer satisfaction. They are – Web presentation, Product assortment, Time of deliver, Payment policy, trustworthiness, and Product return policy.
